Mandi Fields
I was moved to
tears watching everything unfold- you
have done a wonderful thing for Wellspring
Rob. Obviously you have a strong support
network of family and friends and you
have just introduced us to another group
of people. The time and energy it takes
to pull off this calibre of an event is
huge.
All the details...from the goody bags,
to the small note with your dinner choice
on it, to a prize for everyone. Having
some London Knights there added a special
buzz to the event, that many fundraisiers
are missing these days. Your wife and
daughter are beautiful- it was lovely
to watch the three of you work side by
side in an effort to support people and
families living with cancer.
Sincerely,
Mandi
The AppinCaptain
Just an excellent
day full of fun, surprises and satisfaction
knowing that you contributed to a very
wothwhile cause. Congrats to Otto, Matt
and your very dedicated, hard working
crew. You guys did an awesome job and
should feel very proud of your accomplishment.
Thanks for the round guys. Looking forward
to next year.
Lil' Sis
This
weekend was so awesome.
You fellas sure know how to show a gal
a good time. Watched some unbelievable
holes... there were more than a few
drives that would have made Happy Gilmore
jealous.

First class all the
way.
I have played in many golf tournaments
and I must tell you that this one
gets top marks for organisation. Everything
was professional in every way, shape
and form from the registration table
right down to the awarding of the
many, many quality prizes. Kudos go
out to Matt as he lost his voice in
the process of yelling out winning
ticket numbers yet continued to give
it his all despite sounding like a
boy going through puberty.
It was nice to see so many of the
past and present London Knights in
attendance. Watching how they conduct
themselves off the ice is a lesson
in both how young these guys are,
how horribly fit they are and how
well mannered and polite they all
are. Their golfing skills are as different
as their skating strides. Kris Belan
is by far the best golfer of them
all. This young man absolutely pounds
the ball -- straight and long -- with
a seemingly effortless swing.
By contrast, there is sports_nut.
His swing is not even close to effortless,
his shots are strayed and lacking
in length yet he was having the time
of his life trying to play a game
he has never played before. I have
to give him all the credit in the
world for being a good sport about
a game that can drive one crazy during
the best of times. He is also a deserving
winner of the Brian Campbell jersey.
I do wonder though how long it will
be before he takes the Campbell name
bar off and replaces it with "PETERS".
Our crew, the Biff Malibu Quartet,
finnished the tourney at minus one.
The quartet featured Biff Malibu,
Charlie_Rules Sr., stormfan (that'd
be me) and my buddy Stevie J. who
was our ringer. Thanks men for the
great day in the wind Smile
Meeting Adam Perry was another one
of the many honors I have been fortunate
to have this season. He was a great
guy to talk to and he has been a good
sport about the whole Pinball Pledge
thing. I was presented with a personaly
inscribed and autographed picture
from Adam that said, "Thank's
for believing in me". It was
meant in good fun and he, along with
everyone else got a good laugh over
that one.
It amazes me how people on a message
board can come together and support
a worthy cause for a another city
to benefit from. That folks isn't
charity, it's called humanity. Everyone
who made a pledge this season should
give themselves a pat on the back
for knowing you were part of something
that will go toward making life a
little bit better for those who could
truely use it. *stormfan claps hands*
Bravo people, bravo!
Otto explained how the whole idea
for A Round for a Cure came to be.
He said that it basically came from
an idea that ex Knight Kelly Thompson
had for the House of Green charity
promotion. I like to believe that
it really came about because of Otto's
vision and desire to follow up on
an idea. Otto's crew -- rjohnnyb,
ReLyt, crowncarrier, Charlie_rules,
Mrs. Otto and daughter of Otto (sorry,
forgot her name) put an incredible
amount of time and effort into making
this tournament an event you just
can't miss. The attention to detail
was most evident in the Elastoplast
sponsor sign with the name "Elastoplast"
spelled out with the actual Elastoplast
bandages.
I had such a good time from the team
breakfast right through to the end
of the day. It was nice to meet up
with some of the NOOFer's like The
AppinCaptain (not a real captain?)
and dawgpound303 (super nice guy)
Finally, thanks to KnightHawk for
showing up and having a good time
despite the personal pain he is going
through. You made me feel what it's
like to be a human being buddy. Hold
your head up high as you are quite
a remarkable guy.
As usual - peace.

This
weekend can be summed up in two words:
simply amazing.
From start to finish, Otto and his
great group were class acts, helping
with whatever they could, putting
together one of the best events I've
ever attended. I'm at a loss for words,
it was just out-of-this-world.Having never golfed before, I wasn't
sure what to expect on the course.
Like Stormfan said, I wasn't exactly
an expert out there, but it was funny
watching some of my shots. We were
put on the 13th hole first, which
was the one over the ravine to the
ever-so-tiny hole a few hundred yards
away. The ball was going really well,
then kind of hooked left, then really
hooked left. Last I heard, it landed
somewhere in Lake Erie - near Buffalo
Laughing I couldn't putt for the life
of me, but found comfort in the chip-game.Some shout-outs:Otto - It was an honour to play in
your great event. From the moment
we got there to the moment we left,
you gave first class hospitality,
helping with anything that came your
way, while at the same time having
as much fun as anyone. Thank you for
everything and I can't wait to be
there next year SmileOtto's crew - You know who you are...ReLyT
(aka reality LOL), Matt, Crown Carrier,
Otto's family, Biff, Charlie_Rules,
rjohnnyb, etc...you people were awesome
out there. Matt just about lost his
voice during door prize giveaways,
but kept on chugging along and did
a great job! Thank you all for your
time, your effort, and your hospitality!"Captain Cantum's Nutty Hounds"
- My team, thank you for making the
course so much fun. Some of the shots
made it a few feet (and that's from
the tee Razz), some made it nearly
to the green. Dawgpound has one amazing
drive. I couldn't believe some of
his shots. Cantum had some awesome
shots...both straight and long and
"cantumshanks" LOL AppinCaptain
had some really sweet shots that put
us at ease. Cantum and DPound were
great pre-tourney and post-tourney
with various things, which was hugely
appreciated.BP/Lil Sis - Haha, some of the funniest
moments at the post-event party. We
found out the origin of BP Fox's name,
which I must say, I was surprised
at and really impressed.Players in attendance - Corey Perry,
AJ, Kelly Thomson, Brandon Prust,
Kris Belan, Drew Larman, Robbie Drummond.
I think I got them all (if I didn't,
my sincere apologies). It was such
a pleasure to see them all there.
Belan seemed happy to talk to us the
whole day and was a generally easy-going
guy. Thanks to all of you for taking
the time to come. While you had to
leave early, it meant a lot to us
(I know Dawgpound and myself were
talking about this on the way home)
that you took the time to come.Stormfan said most of what I was
going to say, regarding how special
this event really was. I will have
pictures ready in the next day or
so. There's a bunch of golf shots,
plus dinner ones and after-party ones.Oh, and no, I have no intentions
of changing the name to Peters Laughing
I was floored that I won the jersey,
so it's currently hanging up in my
closet with the other jerseys I don't
wear...and will remain there Smile
Besides, ever since the Umberger hit,
Campbell's a tough guy Wink*cheers to everyone involved*
Here's to a great event and I look
forward to being there next year!
rjohnnyb
I'm glad you all had
a good time. It was great seeing some
of our long distance friends make out...BP,
Lil Sis, Dawgpound, Sportsnut, stormfan,
Cantum, AppinCapt, and if I missed someone
sorry, but I'll admit I was drunk from
Thursday on til this morning.
Drew Larman, Robbie Drummond, and
Otto it was a pleasure hanging out
with you all day and a good time.
Prust it was great trading barbs with
you and thanks for not beating me
up when the going got tough. I could've
used some of your money though, so
maybe next year I'll push you a little
harder. Kris Belan...Sorry for the
mix up, but thank you for coming through
and expressing your interest to Drummond.
You made a good friends year by showing
up and golfing with him, I'm sure
Homer will never forget that day and
it won't be too far from my memory
either. Corey and AJ Perry, Kelly
Thomson thanks for coming out and
helping our little day become a huge
day.
My biggest surprise of the day was
the disappointment of the room when
I was drawing off the personalized
autograph pictures. I was little worried
that people would think they were
cheesy prizes, but listening to everyone
groan and sigh as each one was drawn
was worth the last minute running
around.
Next year bigger and better...well
at least I'll be bigger!!!

It
was a great day, I ended up with a bit
more sun than I thought I would. I would
have liked to have met more Noofers,
but I did learn a ton about Wellspring,
and that was extremely worth while.
I put tickets in all the things (except
the ipod and camera as I have both
of those), and ended up with the Sting
stick and cards....not sure if any
of the players will ever play OHL
hockey. Wink
It was a lot of fun, and I will look
forward to next year.
Cantum
I had a blast, and
I'm in for next year, no question......
Mad props go out to Otto, his family,
and the volunteers who made this one
helluva event, and I'm certain everyone
had a great time.
A special thnx go out to AppinCaptian,
Dave, and the Pound for a hugely entertaining
18 holes, and a hilarious banquet.
And boys, I'm loving my basket full
of plates and cups.
BPFox
Wow,
what a great time. Kudo's and thanks
to Otto and the gang for a fine event
and for making me and my daughter feel
so welcome. A special thanks to Knighthawk,
Ice man and Kris Belan for making it
a very special day of golf.
Highlights & Memories: Getting
to spend a whole day with my daughter.
Lil' Sis as she is known in NOOF land
has spent the last four years away
at Michigan State getting her degree
and I have had very little one on
one time with her in a long time.
Just a great day for dad.Getting to meet, and then watch Kris
Belan play the game of golf. What
a treat. This kid just crushes his
drives. Yes, he did in fact drive
the green on the par 4 first hole.
This feat was made better by Ice man
draining a 20 foot putt on the same
hole for the eagle 2. Kris also drove
the ball pin high just right of the
green in the bunker on the par 4 11th.
The team was able to get the ball
up and down for the birdie. For myself, my golf highlights consisted
of draining a birdie putt on the par
3 17th hole and then having the team
actually use one of my drives. I can't
remember which hole it was, but when
you have Kris and Dave (Ice man) crushing
the ball off the tee all day long,
using one of my drives was pretty
special. And lastly, putting my tee
shot on the green on the "closest
to the pin" hole and getting
to put my name on the card was pretty
special too. I didn't expect to win,
but being the first name on the card
and giving everyone else something
to shoot for is pretty cool.Getting to meet and share a cart
with Ice man Dave was fun. Thank's
Dave for making room for Lil' Sis!
Dave was hitting the ball a ton off
the tee only to be out drove by the
"Kid" most of the day. It
didn't seem to bother him at all.
As mentioned above, Dave made the
"eagle" putt on hole #1
so that Kris' great drive didn't go
to waste. He also had a birdie putt
on the par 5 6th hole. Dave also won
the "Saginaw Spirit" gift
package after dinner. As always, it was great to see Knighthawk
again. I think he has been to more
games in Saginaw than any other away
team fan. I think this was only his
second time golfing, but he did ok.
Highlight of the day was Knighthawk
draining a long putt to save par after
Kris, Dave and myself all missed.
That allowed our team to finish at
-1 for the day.It was fun putting 7 people in the
"Disco Stu World Tour Bus"
as we changed the party after the
party from Carey's to Crabby Joes.
Nothing like a bus full a people with
Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody playing
very loudly to make even the short
trip down Commissioners to Wellington
a blast.Even the trip home was unique as
we made a stop in Strathroy to use
my $25.00 gift certificate at the
local paint store there. We actually
found two people who didn't follow
hockey. Yes, the were Canadians! I
promised to keep their identities
a secret to avoid possible deportation.
Thanks again to everyone involved
for a great couple of days in London.
See you next year. And Kris, if you
don't make the Knights this coming
season, we have an open O/A spot in
Saginaw. Be glad to have you!
dawgpound303
Well, as everyone has already stated
several times on this thread, what an
amazing day!!! Otto and his group from
London were great and a better job could
not have been done.
It was a great seeing all the Noofers
and former and current OHL'ers in attendance.
I gained a HUGE amount of respect for
Corey Perry at this event, no matter what
is thought of his antics on the ice, off
it, he is one classy individual.
To my teammates, Appin, Nutty and Cantum,
what a great time, even though we weren't
the most talented team, i was very pleased
with our +2 finishing score. And besides
that, the good times were what mattered
most.
Appin, thanks for being my co-pilot and
trading rounds of cold ones all day, made
my day even more enjoyable Laughing
KnightHawk, StormFan, BP, Lil Sis, Biff,
Matt, RJohnnyB, RelYt, all u guys and
gals everytime i meet up, i think to myself,
we gotta do this more often. Amazing what
great friends u can make through a mesaage
board.
The prize table was simply amazing.
The meal was first rate. And our adventurous
night out afterwards was a hoot. My friend
that accompanied me to Crabby's just loved
ole BPFox and his endless stories, and
she kept commenting on how friendly everyone
was.
Oh, and yes Otto, there would have been
more than enough room for you to slide
in between us, LOL. Very Happy
Thanks again everyone, i couldn't have
had a better time, can't wait till next
year.
Later from the DawgPound
KnightHawk
First off, just
wanted to say thanks to Otto and his crew,
namely rjohnnyb, ReLyT, Charlie_Rules,
Biff Malibu, Matty, and Otto's family
(Lori, Josh and Rebecca) for making this
such a great event. I only caught the
tail end of the event last year. However,
I'm guessing it was even more of a blast
this year! Smile It was so well organized.
I'm looking forward to next year already!
Smile
Kudos to our foursome, namely BPFox,
Iceman and Bellsy (Kris Belan). As well,
it was definitely good to see Lil' Sis
again.
Despite my lousiness at golf, I had
a great time. My highlight was sinking
that putt after the other three missed.
One of my flashes of brilliance, indeed!
After that, Lori approached our group
for a group photo. You'll notice that
the rest of the group are holding drivers,
while I'm holding a putter. RazzI didn't know that wombats switched
spots so that I could be paired with
Bellsy. Thanks very much! You don't
know how much that meant to me. Very
HappyThere were some autographed photos
of certain players. I was going to bid
on the Kris Belan photo. However, I
backed off of it because I wanted BPFox
to get it. He said that despite that
there were other players, he didn't
play golf with them. And, he ended up
getting it. Excellent! SmileGood to meet up with dawgpound303,
sports_nut, TheAppinCaptain and stormfan
again. I'm guessing the gentleman in
the blue hat was Cantum? The debt to stormfan was paid in full.
There was a bet on between Jason (in
Sudbury) and I. There was no money involved;
just for bragging rights. The game I
went to in Sudbury was just after the
trade deadline, and Mark Versteeg-Lytywn
was playing his first game for the Wolves.
I noticed that he had his full name
on the back of his jersey. I commented
that this was the first time he had
had his full name on his jersey. Jason
said he had his full name when he played
for the Storm.
Of course, I consulted stormfan, and
even provided a link for me for one
of Versteeg-Lytywn's jerseys on eBay.
All that was on the back was 'LYTWYN'.
So, to Jason, NA-NA NA-NA BOO-BOO! Razz
So, to say thanks for proving I was
right, I bought stormfan a bottle of
Pepsi. It was also to calm his nerves
after game 4 in the conference finals,
when Ryan Martinelli scored with 2 seconds
left in the game.Sorry I couldn't make the after-party.
Sounds like you all had a great time!
SmileThanks to all for making this such
a GREAT day! Smile

Man O Man.........what a great time.
Was alot of work and I am still feeling
it. Every bit of energy was worth it when
you see all the nice comments and the
fact that we made a difference. I was
so glad to see some old faces and was
happy see some new ones. Was great to
finally meet Sportsnut, Cantum, Dawgpound,
Lil Sis, and Wombats (scored some great
prizes). Sorry if I missed anybody but
it was a busy day and I was runnning around
alot. I would like to thank Otto for letting
me be part of this great event we put
on. Also, I would like to thank all who
participated.....without you there is
no tournament. And to the players......thank
you for coming out and helping us out.
You guys were great and you left some
great memories for many people. This tournament
was started by a Otto with the help of
a few friends and his family last year
and it has really evolved into something
amazing. With just over 30 people last
year we were able to get 100 this year.
This was simply amazing and thank you
all for coming. Next years event will
be hard to top this one but with the team
we got in our corner I have a real good
feeling. And lastly.......thank you to
the noof and all you pledgers. This was
something fantastic to watch. Fans from
teams all around the league coming together
for a great cause was a great thing to
see. And the Noof....just the existence
of this place made it all possible. Thank
you Noof....thank you for everything!!
